Local Area

Lake Macquarie is the largest salt water lake in Australia with a coastline of over 173 kms. Our property is on the northern end of the lake with a northerly aspect where our summer temperatures are cooled by the prevailing north-east breeze. It is a very popular tourist attraction for boating, fishing and several closeby tourist and cultural attractions.

Although the city of Lake Macquarie has a population of over 200,000 adjacent to the city of Newcastle, our property enjoys a peaceful location with our access road being a "no through Road" with very little traffic.

Nearby Tourist Features

The Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery incorporating historic Awaba House is only a 5 minute walk away. Awaba House is a magnificent restaurant offering lunches, evening meals and fine dinning. This is a great tourist attraction on its own.

The recently completed cycleway from Croudace Bay to Booragul Bay near our place is 8 kms in distance and follows the edge of the lake. It is very popular for cyclists, walkers and roller bladers and passes foreshore suburbs of Eleebana, Warners Bay and Speers Point. The cycleway can be accessed immediately in front of our home.

There are several large shopping centre complexes within about 10 minutes drive. Undercover parking, state of the art cinemas, restaurants, cultural features and licenced clubs are all close by. The famous Hunter vineyards are 30 kms to the west. Closer to home, the hinterland of the Wattagan mountains offers great 180 degree views of Newcastle, the lake and the Central Coast and is great for day trips and picnics. The surfing beaches of Redhead and Merewether are the closest of several popular surfing venues at the ocean end of Lake Macquarie.

Queens wharf Newcastle, Nobby's Fort Scratchley, the wetlands and the dolphins at Port Stephens are all a must to see and do and if you are golfers like us, there are several quality championship courses close to home. Bowls and tennis facilities are also 5 minuteas away by car away.

Sydney is a pleasant trip along the M1 freeway. The drive takes 90 minutes from our place to the city centre.
